DESIGN PRINCIPLES-EXERCISE1
EXERCISE1: GESTALT THEORY AND CONTRAST
(part1: recap lecture part2:the design of contrast part3:the design of gestalt theory)
Brief reflection for this week:
This week is my first week in Taylor's college, i felt the strong academic atmosphere in Dr.P's class, which was also easy and pleasant.
Especially after class , Dr.P told online students the content in class and the assignment. From time to time, she asked us if we had any other questions. My classmates are also very patient to answer many questions for me. l hope i can study better with the help of teachers and classmates.
Although i can't hear clearly in class and my English is not very good, i will try my best to fulfill the teacher's requirements and improve myself.

Contrast
What is contrast?
There are four main types of contrast:
1.Light and dark.
2.Color.
3.Foreground and background.
4.Size and shape.
- This painting expressed my understanding of "contrast".
I think "color" is also one of all elements , so i decided to use color to express my truly ideas.
- Through this painting ,the main thing is when we see it we can feel a strong contrast of colors, like "red"、"green"......
- The combination of several colors creates a strong visual contrast. Also, anyone who sees it will feel better. These healing colors let us feel happy or relaxed.
Gestalt theory
principle of similarity
principle of continuation
principle of closure
principle of proximity
principle of figure/ground
principle of symmetry&order
And now, i want to show a drawing that made by myself which expressed my thoughts about "principle of similarity":
This picture shows three kiwis with a corner cut off . But we have psychological activities , so we can see an abstract triangle. Even if the triangle has no borders, and the intermittent boundaries in the middle are incomplete.
As far as i know, gestalt originated in visual studies but is not limited to visual studies. It is often applied to music. Interpreting musical works from new ways and perspectives.
And also "gestalt theory" plays an important role in many fields.
